Troubleshooting

Browsers and devices

Which browsers and devices uxdeck runs on, and the few features that depend on the browser you use.

Checked against uxdeck on 16 October 2026

uxdeck runs in your browser, so there is nothing to download. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. A few features lean on things only some browsers offer; this page lists them so you know what to expect.

On a computer or a tablet you get the full editor. On a phone you get uxdeck’s phone app: view, comment, share and play prototypes, but not edit.

Chrome and Edge

Everything works here, so they are the best choice for designing:

  • The eyedropper (I) picks a colour from anywhere on screen.
  • Fonts on this computer: the font picker offers Use the fonts on this computer and lists them under On this computer. See Your own fonts.
  • Install as an app appears in the Deck menu and the account menu when the browser offers it.
  • Videos are compressed for your site when you publish.

Safari

The editor, Preview, comments and publishing work. What differs:

  • No eyedropper: the message reads “The eyedropper needs Chrome or Edge”. Type or paste the colour instead.
  • No fonts from this computer. Upload the font to your workspace instead.
  • To install on an iPhone or iPad, use Share, then Add to Home Screen. There is no install button inside uxdeck.
  • Notifications on an iPhone or iPad only work from uxdeck added to the Home Screen.
  • An older Safari may not compress videos when you publish: “This browser cannot compress videos. Publish from Chrome, Edge or a recent Safari.”

Firefox

The editor, Preview, comments and publishing work. Like Safari, Firefox has no eyedropper and does not share the fonts on your computer, and it does not offer to install uxdeck as an app.

Phones

A screen narrower than 768 pixels opens uxdeck’s phone app. On it you can:

  • See your files, open them, comment and share.
  • Play prototypes full screen.
  • Publish a file you own.
  • Describe an idea and have the agent make a deck for you.

You cannot edit layers on a phone. Open the file on a tablet or computer to design; turning the phone sideways keeps the phone app. See uxdeck on your phone.

Tablets

A tablet 768 pixels wide or more gets the full editor, with touch. On an iPad, add uxdeck to the Home Screen for a full-screen app.

Installing uxdeck

Installing gives uxdeck its own window and an icon in your dock or on your home screen, and it opens without a connection. On a computer with Chrome or Edge, .uxd files then open in uxdeck with a double click. See Install uxdeck as an app.

Catches

  • Voice and notifications need your permission. If you said no once, allow the microphone or notifications again from the padlock beside the address.
  • Fonts from this computer stay on this computer. Anyone else opening the file, and anyone visiting your site, sees a fallback unless the font is uploaded to the workspace.
  • Office networks that inspect secure connections can cut uxdeck off now and then. See Working offline.
