Get started
Find, open, star, file and tidy away your decks from Home, and start new ones.
Checked against uxdeck on 16 October 2026
Home is where every file you own or that was shared with you is listed. You start new files here, open the ones you have, file them in folders, and send the ones you are done with to the archive or the trash. Every file lives in your uxdeck account, so Home shows the same list on any computer or phone you sign in on.
Open Home at any time with the Home tab at the left of the tab bar, or Go to Home in the Deck menu.
The sidebar
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Recents | Your files and those shared with you, the last edited first |
| All files | The same files, by name |
| Folders | One list per folder you made |
| Archive | Files you put away. They still open and work as usual, they are just kept out of Recents and All files |
| Trash | Files you deleted |
The workspace switcher moves between your own files and any team you belong to. A team has its own Recents, All files and folders.
Files you star are listed under Starred in the sidebar, which appears once you star one. Click a name there to open the file.
Use Search at the top to find a file by name, and the Grid and List buttons to change how files are shown.
Start a file
- New file makes an empty deck called Untitled deck with one page, Page 1, and opens it. From the editor, ⌥⌘N does the same.
- The box at the top of Home, Describe your idea and make it come to life, takes a sentence and the agent draws it in a new deck. If you closed it, Make with AI brings it back. Read Make a file with the agent.
- Open a file brings in a
.uxdfile you saved, or a Figma.figfile. You can also drop either onto Home. Read .uxd files and uploads and Import a Figma file.
Dropped files are uploaded in a tray at the bottom right, so you can keep using Home while they go up.
A file’s card
Each card shows the file’s picture, its name, when it was last edited and, when the deck has them, its colour and a one-line description (both set in Deck settings). Faces on the card show who is in the file right now, and a badge shows when the file is published as a site.
Click a card to open the file. Press the star to star it. Press More actions (the three dots), or right-click, for its menu:
- Star or Unstar
- Copy link and Share…
- Show version history
- Rename and Duplicate
- Move to folder, with a new folder made on the spot if you need one
- Move it into a team, or back to your own files
- Move to archive and Move to trash
Moving to the archive or the trash shows a toast with Undo.
Folders
Press New folder next to Folders in the sidebar and name it. Drag a card onto a folder to file it, or use Move to folder in its menu. Folders are one level deep.
Deleting a folder does not delete its files: they move back to your unsorted files.
Several files at once
Hold ⌘ or ⇧ and click cards to select them without opening them, or drag a box around them. A bar shows how many are selected. Drag the selection onto a folder, Starred, Archive or Trash in the sidebar, or right-click it to star, file, archive or trash them all. Clear drops the selection.
Archive and Trash
- Archive keeps a file out of your way without deleting it. Use Restore from archive to bring it back to Recents.
- Trash holds deleted files. In your own trash, nothing leaves on a timer: a file stays until you Restore it or choose Delete permanently…, which asks first. In a team’s trash, files wait for 30 days, then go for good.
If a file you move to the archive or the trash is published, its site goes offline. Bringing the file back later does not bring the site back: publish it again.
More on Home
- What’s new and Changelog show what changed in uxdeck lately. A dot means there is a release you have not seen.
- Request a feature sends me an idea.
- Settings opens your account settings.
- On a phone, pull down on the list to refresh it.
What each plan allows
On Free, you keep 3 files of your own. Files that others shared with you, and files in a team, do not count. When you have 3, New file asks you to free a place or upgrade. If you go back to Free with more than 3, the others open as Read-only on Free until you choose which 3 stay editable. Pro has no limit on files. Read Free and Pro.
Catches
- Archived files still count as files of your own on Free.
- Deleting for good cannot be undone. Files in the trash do not count towards your 3 on Free, so there is rarely a reason to rush.
- A file shared with you is listed on Home, but its menu only offers what your role allows. Read Viewers and asking to edit.
