Troubleshooting
Keep designing when the connection drops; your edits reach your account when you are back online.
Checked against uxdeck on 16 October 2026
uxdeck keeps working when your connection drops: on a train, on a flaky café network, or when an office firewall cuts in for a moment. You go on editing, and every change reaches your account as soon as the connection is back. Your files live in your account, so nothing needs saving by hand.
What you see
uxdeck tells you which kind of break it is:
- You are offline. Keep working: your changes reach your account when you reconnect. Your device has no network at all.
- Not connected. Keep working: your changes reach your account when the connection is back. The network is there, but the file’s connection to uxdeck dropped. Press Try again to reconnect now; uxdeck also retries by itself.
- An Offline chip in the top bar, beside the people in the file. Select it to try again.
When the connection returns, the banner goes and your edits are sent in the order you made them. People working with you see them arrive.
What works offline
- Moving, drawing, editing text, styling, auto layout, components and everything else on the canvas.
- Undo and redo.
- Files you have opened recently.
- The glossary, lessons and checklists in Review’s Reading tab.
What needs a connection
- Comments: adding, replying and resolving. The comment bar reads “Comments need a connection”.
- Folders on Home.
- Large pictures: they upload when you are back. Adding one offline can leave the message “Large images need a connection to upload”; add it again once you are online.
- Voice calls, live cursors and seeing who is in the file.
- The agent, Publish, sharing and invitations.
- Version history: “The history could not be loaded. Check your connection and open it again.”
- Signing in and anything in Settings that changes your account.
Updates
When a new version of uxdeck is ready, a card says Update available. Press Restart to update when it suits you, or Not now to carry on. The card waits while you are offline, since restarting needs a connection.
Office networks
Some company networks inspect secure connections and block uxdeck now and then. The file then goes Offline and reconnects by itself when the network lets it through. Signing in from such a network says “Could not reach uxdeck from this network…”. If it happens often, ask your IT team to allow uxdeck.app; a phone hotspot is a quick way to check it is the network.
Catches
- Reconnect before you sign out. Changes made while offline reach your account once you are back online; signing out before then leaves them unsent.
- Installing uxdeck as an app makes it easiest to open without a connection. See Install uxdeck as an app.
