Work together
Read what people say in a call as captions in English or French, translated between the two, and keep each call as a transcript in the file with a summary.
Checked against uxdeck on 21 October 2026
Calls in uxdeck can be captioned as people talk, and kept as a transcript in the file once the call ends. Captions work in English and French, and either one can be read in the other.
Captions and transcripts come with voice, so they are on Pro and in a team’s files whatever your plan.
Before you join
The first time you join a call in a file, a short notice opens beside the button you pressed. It says the call is captioned, and whether it is kept as a transcript. Choose the language you will speak, then:
- Join: what you say is captioned, and kept in the transcript when the file keeps them;
- Join without transcribing me: you hear and talk as usual, but your words are not captioned or kept;
- Cancel: you stay out of the call.
You are asked once per file. You can change your mind later with Transcribe me in the call’s audio settings or in Settings, Voice.
Captions in a call
Press the captions button, marked CC, in the call bar to show them. The newest lines appear above the toolbar, each in the colour of the person speaking, and fade a few seconds after they stop.
Each person is captioned from their own microphone, so who said what is always right.
Read captions in your language
In the call’s audio settings, Captions in chooses how you read them:
| Choice | What you read |
|---|---|
| As spoken | Each line in the language it was said in. |
| English | French lines translated into English. |
| Français | English lines translated into French. |
A line is translated once the speaker finishes the sentence; words still being said show as spoken until then. I speak sets the language you talk in, so your own words are heard correctly.
Transcripts
When a call ends, its captions are kept as a transcript inside the file. Open Review, then Calls, to see every call with its date, length and who spoke. Open one to:
- read it as spoken, in English or in Français;
- search it, in the original words or the translation;
- copy it, or download it as a text file;
- delete it, after a confirmation.
On a phone, open the comments sheet, then Calls.
The owner of the file can turn Keep transcripts of calls off in Review, Calls. Captions still show during calls; nothing is kept.
Summaries
Open a transcript and press Summarise: uxdeck AI writes what was decided, what is to do and by whom, and what is still open, in the language you are reading the transcript in. It uses your agent credits. The summary stays with the transcript for everyone who can read it, and Summarise again writes a new one.
Who sees what
- Everyone in the call sees the captions while it lasts.
- Transcripts are read by the file’s owner and the people the file is shared with by name. People who came in through a share link do not see them.
- The owner and the people who can edit may delete a transcript. Transcripts are deleted with the file.
- The sound of a call is never recorded or kept, only the words.
Settings
Settings, Voice, Captions and transcripts:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show captions | Captions in every call, without pressing CC. |
| Captions in | As spoken, English or Français. |
| I speak | The language you talk in. |
| Transcribe me | Off, your words are neither captioned nor kept. |
Limits
Pro includes 20 hours of captions a month for each person. They count the time you talk while you are transcribed, not the time you listen or stay muted. In a team’s files, the team’s plan counts when it gives more.
Past the month’s hours, your calls go on as usual: the others’ captions still show, but yours stop until the 1st, and the call’s audio settings say so. See how much is left in Settings, Usage, Calls.
Catches
- A word comes out wrong. Speech to text and translation can stumble on names, product words and words with two meanings. Read a transcript as spoken when wording matters.
- A sentence is cut in two. Lines end where you pause; talking without a break can split a sentence.
- Only English and French are captioned for now.
- Your words stopped being captioned mid-call? Your month’s hours may be used up. See Limits above.
- A file keeps its 300 latest calls; past that, the oldest transcript goes.
