Account and plans

Sign in and your account

Sign in with Google, GitHub or an emailed link, understand how one address makes one account, and manage your profile.

Your uxdeck account holds your files, your comments, your teams and your settings. Sign in on any computer or phone and everything is there. There are no passwords: you sign in with Google, with GitHub, or with a link sent to your email.

Choose one of:

  • Continue with Google
  • Continue with GitHub
  • Type your email address and press Email me a link.

Your name comes from Google or GitHub, or from your email address. Change what collaborators see under Settings, Profile, Your name.

  1. Type your address and press Email me a link.
  2. Open the email and press the link. You are signed in.

The link works once and expires in ten minutes. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder, then press Resend the link, which is available after 60 seconds.

Type your address and press Email me a link. Resend becomes available after 60 seconds.

One address, one account

Google, GitHub and an email link all open the same account when they use the same email address. Any other address is a separate account, with its own files. uxdeck never joins two addresses into one.

You can see the ways you sign in under Settings, Profile, Sign-in methods, and disconnect a Google or GitHub account. The email link to your own address always works. Each shows Connected when it is set up. Disconnecting one leaves your files and the other methods as they are.

If you open a sign-in link for a different account than the one you are using, uxdeck asks before it switches.

Your profile

In Settings, Profile:

  • Profile picture: replaces the picture from Google or GitHub everywhere collaborators see you. Up to about 1 MB.
  • Your name: change what collaborators see.
  • Sign-in methods: see above.
  • Open from your phone: lets your phone open uxdeck on this computer. See uxdeck on your phone.
  • Notifications: what reaches you. See Notifications.
  • Sign out and Delete account. See Delete your account.

Sign out

Choose Log out in the account menu to leave at once, or Sign out in Settings, Profile, which asks first. Edits on their way finish before you leave, and your files stay in your account for when you sign in again, here or anywhere else.

Catches

  • “That link has already been used” or “That link has expired”: ask for a new one.
  • “That sign-in did not finish”: press the Google or GitHub button again in the same browser.
  • A different address is a different account. If your files seem to be missing, check which address you signed in with.
  • Guests can look, not ask. You can open a shared link as a guest, but you need to sign in to ask the owner for edit access.
