Publish and export
Set your site's title, description, address, pages, icons, share picture, search listing and password, from Deck settings.

Site settings decide what your published site says about itself: its name in search results and in the browser tab, the picture a shared link shows, its address, which screens become pages, and whether search engines may list it. Set them before your first publish, or any time after.
Open Deck settings (⌘,) and choose Site, or press Set up site in the Publish dialog. Changes apply the next time you publish, and to the site you export as a zip. The address and the password are the exceptions: they change at once.
Search and sharing
- Title (up to 70 characters): the site’s name in search results and shared links. Your file’s name until you set one.
- Description (up to 160 characters): a sentence or two about the site. Without one, search engines pick words from the page.
- Preview: how the site will show in a search result, as you type.
- Language: the language the site is written in, so a screen reader reads it correctly.
Address
Where the site lives is the part before .uxdeck.site. It is prefilled from your file’s name; change it before you publish if you like. An address has at least 3 characters, using letters, digits and dashes, with no dash at either end. As you type, it says Available or that another site already has it.
Once the site is live, changing the address moves it. uxdeck asks first, because links to the old address stop working.
Pages
Each screen on the site is a page. Its frame’s name is the page’s title in the tab and in search results, and its address.
- The switch beside a screen puts it on the site or leaves it off. Leave off what is not a page, such as a cover or a board of components. At least one stays on.
- Make home chooses the page the site opens on. The current one is marked Home.
- Rename a page here and its frame is renamed too.
- A screen still called by a placeholder name is flagged: say what the page is.
The frame you set as the file’s thumbnail is its cover on Home, and is never published.
Site images
Each is optional, and the note under each says its size:
| Image | Used for | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Favicon | The tab icon on a light browser | 64 by 64 |
| Favicon, dark | The tab icon on a dark browser | 64 by 64 |
| Home screen icon | When someone adds the site to a phone’s home screen | 180 by 180 |
| Social preview | The picture a shared link shows | 1200 by 630 |
Press Upload, then Change or Remove later. Removing one asks first. Without a social preview, your home page is used.
Search engines
Show in search results is on unless you turn it off. Off, search engines are asked not to list the site. A new account’s site stays out of search results for its first two days either way, and a site with a password is never listed.
Password
On Pro, ask visitors for a password to share a site with a client or a team before it is public. Publish the site first, then:
- Under Password, type a password of at least 6 characters.
- Press Protect the site.
It takes effect at once, without publishing again. Anyone with the password gets in for 30 days. Setting a new password asks everyone again. Remove it to open the site to everyone; uxdeck asks first.
Danger zone
Unpublish takes the site offline. It asks first. See Publish a site.
Catches
- Most changes wait for the next publish. After editing the title, pages or images, press Republish.
- Site images need the file saved to your account. They are uploaded with it.
- Changing a live address breaks old links. Anyone with the old address finds nothing there.
- Only people who can edit the file can change its site settings.
