Coach and agent

Connect an AI tool

Connect Claude, Cursor, Codex, ChatGPT and other AI tools to uxdeck over MCP so they can read and edit your files.

Checked against uxdeck on 16 October 2026

uxdeck speaks MCP, the protocol AI tools use to work with other apps. Connect your coding agent or AI chat app and it can list your files, read a frame as code, write a frame, check it against the coach’s rules, and work with your components, variables, pages, flows and Blocks. It works with uxdeck open or closed.

Use it when you already work in an AI tool: ask it to build a screen from your codebase, or to read a design and write the code for it.

Everything is in Settings, AI, under AI tools. How to connect opens the full setup guide.

Claude Desktop, claude.ai and ChatGPT

These are marked No token needed:

  1. In the app, add a custom connector with the Address shown in Settings (copy it with the button beside it).
  2. The app sends you to uxdeck to approve it. Sign in if asked, and approve.

In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode first (under Settings, Security and login), then create the app from Plugins and keep OAuth. Settings in uxdeck has the exact steps.

Coding tools with a token

For Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Antigravity and Kimi Code:

  1. Press Create token.
  2. Give it a Name you will recognise later, such as “Claude Code on my laptop”.
  3. Choose an Expiration: 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days (the default), 1 year or No expiration.
  4. Press Create token.
  5. Pick your tool’s tab and copy the command or configuration shown. It already holds your token. Run it or paste it where the hint says, then restart the tool.
Press Create token, name it, press Create token, pick your tool's tab and copy what it shows.

Copy the token straight away: for your security it is not shown again. If you close the dialog without copying, uxdeck asks first.

Manage your tokens

The table lists each token with when it was Created, when it was Last used (or Never) and when it expires. Press the revoke button to stop a token at once; uxdeck asks first. A tool using a revoked token loses access straight away.

What the tool can do

The tool sees 28 actions. The main ones:

  • list_frames and read_frame: see what is in a file, and read a frame as JSON, HTML, Tailwind or React.
  • write_frame: draw or change a frame.
  • audit_frame: run the coach’s rules on a frame.
  • focus: bring a layer into view in your open file.

Others cover files, variables, components and variants, generators (states, type scale, colour ramp, dark mode, skeletons, annotations), pages, flows, breakpoints and Blocks.

Open or closed

  • With the file open in uxdeck, the tool works on it live. You watch the changes arrive, and each batch is one undo step.
  • With uxdeck closed, the tool opens the file itself. Before it changes anything, uxdeck keeps a version named after your token (for example “Before Claude Code on my laptop”), so you can go back.

Plans

On Free, AI tools have 100 calls a week, counted from Monday. Pro has no weekly limit.

Catches

  • A token can edit everything you can. Treat it like a password, and give each tool its own so you can revoke one without the others.
  • A team can turn AI tools off for its files, with the Agent permission in team settings.
  • Gemini CLI loads MCP servers only in a folder you trust. The hint in Settings explains it.
